Amaran is based on the true story of Major Mukund Varadarajan, an Indian Army officer in the Rajput Regiment. He was posthumously awarded the Ashok Chakra for his valor during a counter-terrorism operation while serving with the 44th Rashtriya Rifles battalion in Jammu and Kashmir.
